On our way to the Bahamas for our end of year trip, we had the pleasure of a brief stay at the Conrad in Washington DC. We aren’t doing a full review for this one because our stay was too quick and we didn’t have time to sample all this hotel had to offer. However, make no mistake, this hotel brings a sleek and modern address to a timeless city.
The hotel is perfectly situated within walking distance of the White House, United States Capitol, and the National Mall with all the activities minutes from the lobby.
This hotel is modern with clean marble floors with tan and gold accent pieces everywhere. The property feels new and luxurious. The property was also nicely decorated for the holidays!
The is a pretty run of the mill hotel in the middle of a big city. Estuary, the bar and restaurant, had a nice crowd going into the evening.
The hotel has a parking garage on-site and valet parking is always clutch in a busy city. It doesn't come cheap though at $60 per night.
The hotel is located right next to "The Park at CityCenter DC." This one square block park is surrounded by high-end names including Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
Being part of the Hilton portfolio, this hotel is a decent option for using points or free night certificates.
The hotel does have a fitness center, but no spa. In addition, there is plenty of meeting space for business and personal events.
The staff are friendly and professional. They lived up to our expectations, but nothing was standout.
You will see people dressed formally in suits and dresses as well as jeans and t-shirts. This hotel caters to everyone from vacationers to business travelers. Keep it smart casual in the restaurant.
We used a free night certificate and were placed into an accessible room, despite not having any disabilities. The bathroom has a roll-in shower and the beds are low enough to appease the most restricted of guests.
You couldn’t ask for a better location. The Conrad is situated on “The Park at CityCenter DC,” which is a lovely park surrounded by high-end shopping and restaurants. You will also find many other luxury hotels in this area.
The hotel lies 8 city blocks directly north of the National Mall. The White House is a 15 minute walk to the west, the National Mall and Smithsonian museums are a 15 minute walk south and the Capitol is 20 minutes to the southeast.
The metro system in DC is one of the best in the country and the “Metro Center” station is only a few blocks to the southwest. You can utilize the blue line to get to Reagan National Airport, which is also only a 15 minute drive.
However, since this hotel is within walking distance of nearly everything this city has to offer, most visitors will find that going by foot is the best bet.
Upon entering the street level lobby, you are whisked away on an elevator to the main lobby on level 3. Marble and slate flooring create a luxurious base while the walls are outfitted with tan and gold accents. Contemporary furniture completes the ensemble.
Upon departing the elevator on the 3rd floor, you will find yourself immersed in a large lobby with ceilings stretching to the roof. The wavy, curved great-room is outfitted with a magnificent contemporary chandelier and really sets the tone.
Estuary restaurant and bar is accessible directly off the lobby. Down the hall is the Blue Willow room, where breakfast is served as well as meeting rooms and the fitness center. We did not eat at Estuary during our visit.
We had a two queen room that we booked using our free night certificate. The room was very spacious; clocking in at 465 square feet. Four of us fit in this room comfortably with no problem.
The decor was simple, clean and modern. Floor to ceiling windows gave us a nice view of the surrounding city. Maybe you will get lucky and snag a room with a view of the park.
The bathroom continues the modern theme with marble tile covering every surface but the ceiling. These bathrooms are spacious, so you won’t have any trouble moving around.
Our big complaint is the sink. First, with a bathroom of this size, there should be two sinks. Secondly, the one sink we had was positioned too close to the shower, which did not have a glass divider. Needless to say, your toiletries will get soaked if you leave them on the counter.
The Conrad Washington D.C. is situated in a fantastic neighborhood in close proximity to high-end restaurants and shopping. Adjacent to the hotel is “The Park at CityCenter DC.” This park is a beautiful hangout spot and was magnificently decorated for the holidays.
The Conrad is a phenomenal hotel in the heart of Washington DC. You will have walkable access to all the major sites including the White House, National Mall, Smithsonian museums, and the Capitol. With the metro and Reagan National airport nearby, this hotel really is a no-brainer. Add in the endless high-end shopping and dining that is right around the corner and you have the perfect address for a luxurious stay in the nations capital.
