Perched on the magnificent cliffs of the Santorini caldera, minutes from Imerovigli, lies the posh boutique hotel Cavo Tagoo. Incredible views adorn the property at every turn and the whitewashed concrete architecture exude the very essence of Santorini. The amazing infinity pool will take your breath away. The aroma of 5 star Greek food will invigorate your senses. And, with only 13 rooms, Cavo Tagoo promises an intimate experience that will forever embrace your soul.
Cavo Tagoo enjoys breathtaking views from one of the highest vantage points on the island. Sunsets are incredible and unobstructed.
Situated directly on the Oia-Fira trail, Imerovigli is only a 20 minute walk away, yet you can still avoid the crowds and relax.
Elegant and simple design gives you everything you expect when you think of Santorini.
The hotel sports a chill, yet lively vibe. It is quiet during the day, but comes to life in the evenings.
The food is absolutely fantastic! Having the option to enjoy your breakfast in your private pool is awesome. The drinks are top notch.
The rooms come with a minibar stocked with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. This was much appreciated in the warm afternoons.
The staff are very relaxed, yet professional and constantly attentive to your every need.
The concierge can arrange almost anything you desire from boat charters to wine tastings.
Santorini is a seasonal island and Cavo Tagoo is open from April through October. It is highly recommended to book your trip at least 4 months in advance.
Vezené is one of the most popular restaurants in Santorini. Be sure to make reservations a couple of months in advance.
Rooms are not private. All your neighbors will be able to see you on your patio and in your pool.
The hotel does not have a gym or spa. However, spa treatments can be arranged in your room.
The hotel does not have a boutique or even a general store. If you forget your toothbrush or need sunscreen, you will need to trek to Imerovigli.
Honeymooners and couples occupy the rooms while trend-setters fill the pool deck come sunset. Children are welcome at the hotel, although you won't see many.
Chic resort-wear is a must during the day. By nightfall, keep it smart-casual.
Lots of stairs and no elevators are typical in Santorini. While Cavo Tagoo is not wheelchair accessible, it has less steps than many other properties. If you can manage a couple of normal flights of stairs, this hotel is workable.

Cavo Tagoo is situated on the north side of Imerovigli facing the caldera, away from the hustle and bustle of Santorini’s busy tourist overridden towns. The hotel boasts incredible views with Oia visible in the distant right and Imerovigli with Skaros Rock to the left.
The hotel is situated directly on the Oia-Fira hiking trail, which means Imerovigli is accessible within a 20 minute walk and Oia 90 minutes. Imerovigli is only 5 minutes by car, with a drive to Oia taking 20 minutes. A drive to the opposite side of the island will take 30 to 40 minutes.
Cavo Tagoo offers private car service to the hotel from the airport or Ferry terminal. The drive to the hotel from both is approximately 15 minutes.
The hotel concierge will help arrange a car if you wish and valet parking is available on-site. For those who don’t want to drive, the hotel is able to take you anywhere with their personal drivers and is able to arrange pickup from anywhere on the island with 30 minutes notice by calling the front desk. The hotel is also able to arrange transportation with private services in the event their drivers are occupied. The hotel bills transportation charges directly to your room, including services from private companies and the price is only slightly higher than Taxis.
There are a limited number of Taxis on the island and they only accept cash. Having the hotel arrange transportation is far easier.
Classic, Greek architecture. Simple and elegant. This hotel is exactly what comes to mind when you think of Santorini. Clean, whitewashed surfaces are complimented by the blue hues of the sky and the Mediterranean to create a truly tranquil atmosphere.
The lobby is small and minimalist, perfectly complimenting this boutique establishment. The front desk and concierge are located directly in front of the entry. Off to the side is a small lounge with views of the caldera. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to this lounge where you will be checked in and given an introduction to the property.
The 60-foot wide infinity pool overlooking the famous caldera is the focal point of the hotel. It may truly be one of the best infinity pools in the world. Trendy, yet not overpowering, music compliments the perfect view.
Covered and uncovered daybeds grace the pool deck and are complimentary to hotel guests. There are enough daybeds for all guests at the hotel, so there is no need to get up early to fight for a chair. The covered daybeds are the way to go given the pool deck gets blasted by direct sunlight all day.
The pool deck and restaurant opens at 8:00 AM. There are plenty of staff on hand to ensure your every need is attended to. Lunch and cocktails are served from Vezené and will be brought right to your lounger.
The pool deck opens to the general public at 6:00 PM and transforms into a posh hangout spot. Everyone who wants to see and be seen will show up during sunset to get that impeccable Instagram shot. A DJ gets the vibe going, but again, the hotel keeps it tame enough as to not interrupt dinner service at Vezené.
One of the biggest draws of Cavo Tagoo is the private pool suites. You won’t be swimming laps in these pools, but they are big enough to hang out and take in the priceless views! Plus they are heated! Speaking of views, all rooms face the caldera and provide panoramic views with Imerovigli joined by Skaros Rock to the left and Oia in the distant right. Additionally, the entire hotel, including all rooms, face west and provide exceptional sunset views.
Complimenting the infinity pool is a sitting area with a built-in bench and solid wood table. You can opt to have breakfast served every morning in your sitting area, and I don’t see why you wouldn’t! There is also a daybed attached to the private pool that is accessible via the sitting area. Housekeeping provides pool towels everyday in the sitting area.
The rooms are spacious and well appointed with modern Volcanic island décor. Variable mood lighting schemes make for a nice touch as the sun goes down. A closet contains a safe and a fair amount of storage space. All rooms are air conditioned. Lastly, a flatscreen TV faces the bed, but who needs that when in Santorini?
The bathroom is nicely appointed with two sinks, a separate water closet and a large shower. Dark ceramic tile with copper colored hardware fit nicely with the wood counter. The shower is extra luxurious due to a well above average water flow rate. You will feel like you are standing under a waterfall. The shower also features a glass window looking into the main bedroom and cannot be covered up.
All rooms are separated by the whitewashed concrete walls. However, they taper down from the main building to the entry, which is located along the caldera. None of the rooms enjoy true privacy as your neighbors will be able to clearly see into your pool, sitting area, and room as they enter their rooms. Regular guest rooms located on the second level will not enjoy privacy on their terraces, but neighbors won’t be able to see in the rooms.
The minibar is fully stocked with adult beverages for a charge, but also contains a fine selection of soft drinks, juices and water that are complimentary. Our minibar was stocked with Coke, Coke Zero, lemonade and bottled water, which was replenished daily by the housekeeping staff. The minibar also features a coffee machine.
Housekeeping arrived promptly in the middle of the day to make up the room. They also provided turndown service while out at dinner. The room was immaculately kept and we found no issues with cleanliness.
Breakfast at Cavo Tagoo is amazing, and best of all, it is included in your room rate. Housekeeping will provide a menu card in your room each day for you to make your breakfast selections for the next morning. You can leave this card in your room to be picked up by housekeeping in the evening or drop it off at the front desk. Breakfast is served promptly at your selected time in either your room, or at the restaurant, Vezene. Another fine touch is that you may choose to have your breakfast served in your private pool at no extra charge.
The food itself tastes as incredible as it looks. You won’t be disappointed!
Chef Ari Vezené brings a restaurant of his namesake to Cavo Tagoo. Vezené is one of the best restaurants on the island featuring a wood-fired Mediterranean menu. The venue is as stylish as its customers with an aquarium bar leading to an open dining room. I am not sure what will dazzle you more, the quality of the food or the mind-blowing views.
Vezené is the only restaurant on-premises and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dinner service is open to the public. And, my oh my how the public loves this place! The steps leading up to restaurant and pool deck provide a grand entrance and tons of people will show up sporting their best looks for what almost feels like a red carpet moment. Trendy is the way to go, but don’t overdo it. For men, stick with fancy jeans or resort pants with a collared shirt, although chino shorts were allowed. For ladies, a cocktail dress does the trick, but don’t forget to accessorize!
Fancy clothes are not always the warmest and it can get cold after the sun goes down. The wind can also be a factor since the hotel is located at one of the highest points on the island. Don’t forget to bring a coverup. However, in case you do forget, the restaurant will provide blankets. A nice touch indeed!
The food at Vezené is incredible and comes with a hefty price tag. The service is also top-notch. Our server de-boned an entire fish and reconstructed it on the plate. The signature cocktails hit the spot on hot summer days and we cannot recommend enough the Birdman Smash from the lunch menu.
As you can imagine, food this good usually requires reservations for dinner, including hotel guests. It is best to book your reservations several months in advance as Vezené is one of the most popular restaurants on Santorini. Reservations can be made on the hotel website.
Food is served on the pool deck from the Vezene lunch menu. The food is awesome and we highly recommend the Birdman Smash! The drinks are delicious and worth every bit of the high prices.
Cavo Tagoo is a small, boutique hotel and does not have anything other than the rooms, pool, restaurant and bar. In general, there are limited activities at the hotel. However, the concierge will be able to arrange anything you desire, be it a helicopter tour or boat charter, an onsite massage, or even a photo shoot!
There is no gym or spa onsite. Massages can be arranged by the concierge for treatments within your room.
Visiting a local winery is an absolute must when in Santorini. The concierge can make recommendations and arrange a tasting with transportation.
The ancient Minoan city of Akrotiri is located on the south side of the island is about a 30 minute drive from Cavo Tagoo.
Red Beach is only a five minute walk from the Akrotiri ruins. The two attractions make for a perfect day in Santorini.
Skaros Rock dominates the views in front of Imerovigli and is easily accessible from the hotel via the Oia-Fira hiking trail.
The front desk and concierge were staffed at all hours of the day. The hotel did a phenomenal job of arranging transportation for us. In fact, they promptly answered the phone in the late evening hours to arrange transportation within minutes.
The hotel is managed incredibly well and there is really nothing to complain about. Since the hotel is so small and personal, we met the manager, Manos, everyday. In fact, he personally welcomed us to the hotel and showed us to our room.
The room was attended to multiple times a day. First in the early afternoon while we were out on an activity or hanging by the pool. Lastly, there was turndown service while we were out for the evening. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room clean and stocked with fresh towels. We did not notice anything that was missed or needed to be cleaned.
Thanks to the complimentary minibar, we didn’t need to use room service. However, the breakfast service was prompt each morning and setup the entire spread on our patio table.
Cavo Tagoo offers an incredible boutique hotel experience on Santorini. Sophisticated as it is simple, this hotel will provide for a relaxing stay indeed while injecting a bit of flavor into your evenings. Impeccable management, friendly staff, and of course, the one of a kind views make Cavo Tagoo a no-brainer for your bucket list.
