Located on the edge of Ornos Bay, Santa Marina provides a family friendly haven minutes from the action. This hotel features one of the best beaches in Mykonos, with granular sand, calm water, and plenty of yacht eye-candy. There are multiple restaurants and bars to savior. And, if that isn’t enough, the incredible Ginkgo Spa will transport you to a world of bliss.
Santa Marina provides a wonderful hotel that the whole family can enjoy.
The hotel is within a 10 minute drive to the airport and Mykonos town. Plus, if you want some action, Ornos beach is a few minutes walk away.
Nothing out of the ordinary here! Santa Marina will give you that typical beach resort vibe you know and love.
This hotel has everything! Multiple restaurants to choose from, a spa, fitness and sports center, shopping, and more!
The Ginkgo Spa is the highlight of the hotel. Some of the best massages we have had!
Santa Marina features multiple restaurants and the food is excellent at all of them!
The concierge can arrange almost anything. your heart desires. We found the concierge to be particularly helpful in arranging transportation to Mykonos Town.
Santa Marina is part of The Luxury Collection by Marriott. This hotel provides some decent point redemption rates since the base rooms typically start at over $1,000 per night.
The hotel has a very strange layout with no specific part of the hotel really becoming the focal point. All of the amenities are scattered on different ends of the hotel.
The hotel restaurants were busy each night. Reservations are recommended a couple of months in advance.
Regular guest rooms do not provide shelter from other guests, however, some of the suites and villas located on the hillside enjoy less traffic.
The staff are very friendly and attentive to your needs.
The hotel does not have a regular shuttle to the Mykonos town, but the concierge will be helpful in providing transportation options. The hotel should consider adding this service as it would give the property a huge advantage over the competition.
You will find a solid mix of families and couples at Santa Marina.
Chic resort-wear is a must during the day. By nightfall, keep it smart-casual.
The hotel does have an elevator for access to the lobby and standard guest rooms. Everything else will be a challenge for those with mobility limitations.
JetSetDNA brings you an in-depth tour of Santa Marina Mykonos. Check it out for yourself on YouTube!
Santa Marina enjoys a perfect location on the outskirts of Ornos Bay. You will get to experience the excitement with a never ending parade of yachts passing by the hotel, but won’t be stuck in the middle of the action.
The hotel is situated 10 minutes from the Mykonos airport and 15 minutes from Mykonos Town.
We let the concierge arrange transportation for us and are we glad we did because getting around Mykonos is tough! The traffic is insane and there is no parking anywhere in the Mykonos Town.
The hotel provided complimentary ground transportation from the airport, which you can arrange in advance by emailing the concierge. The concierge was also able to coordinate transportation to the Mykonos town. A simple phone call to the front desk 30 minutes before we wanted to be picked up was all it took to get us back safely.
The design of this hotel is the biggest drawback. The layout is a real head-scratcher. It almost feels as though this hotel was pieced together over time through multiple acquisitions. The entrance takes you up a strange tunnel with a lackluster lobby that certainly does not give you that grand feeling you would expect for a hotel of this caliber.
The hotel also lacks an obvious focal point with the Oasis pool, Mykonos Social, and Buddha Bar Beach restaurants seemingly competing to be the center of attention.
The lobby is located at the base of the main building containing the standard guest rooms. Filling a large open space, the lobby has plenty of room to lounge, but there is no real reason to ever come here other than to speak with the concierge or front desk. There are no other amenities in the lobby and no decorative features or views to take in.
The Oasis pool deck and lounge was our favorite spot to hangout during the day. This pool features plenty of loungers and generally is not crowded. The pool receives excellent sun during the day and has terrific views of Ornos Bay filled with yachts!
Thee service at the Oasis pool is excellent with the staff catering to your every need. The drinks are on-point and food could be ordered from the Buddha Bar Beach lunch menu and delivered straight to your lounger. At this pool, all you need to do is sit back and relax!
Santa Marina features a private beach on Ornos Bay, which is a big deal as many beach in Mykonos tend to get very crowded, especially the nearby main Ornos Bay beach. The beach did not offer much in the way of snorkeling, but the water very calm and perfectly suitable for families with children. The beach was nice and sandy and not filled with rocks, which is common in Greece.
The beach had plenty of loungers and staff to attend to your every need. Just like the pool deck, the drinks and food were excellent with prompt service.
The Ginkgo Spa is the absolute highlight of the hotel. The design is centered around water features with water free-flowing throughout the spa floor. The relaxation area features a waterfall and combined with the relaxing spa music creates the ultimate environment where you can sit and let your worries melt away. The spa offers a vast array of treatments and the massages are among the best we have ever experienced.
The hotel has a small fitness center located off the Oasis pool deck offering treadmills, bikes, and an assortment of free weights and lifting equipment.
The hotel has a separate play area for children located off to the side of Mykonos Social restaurant. The play area has a small pool and several pieces of playground equipment. The childrens area doesn’t get much action because it is not located in the best spot and the play area itself is enclosed and blocks all the magnificent views.
Santa Marina contains a mix of standard rooms, suites and villas. Prices tend to be high at this hotel with standard resort view rooms costing in excess of $1,000 per night. Meaning, this hotel is a prime candidate for burning Marriott points, which we did. Plus, Marriott Bonvoy status paid off by scoring us an upgrade to a superior sea-view room sporting breathtaking views of Ornos Bay.
A private terrace overlooking Ornos Bay with exceptional sunset views is the highlight of the room. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself losing track of time out here in the evening hours.
The room decor is all about the wood tones from floor, to wall, to ceiling. But, it works and gives you that serene beach vibe. However, nice decor cannot make up for the biggest drawback, the room is cramped!
Our room at Santa Marina is one of the smallest rooms we have experienced at a five star luxury property. There is a small desk for working and situating your electronic gadgets, but that is it. There is barely enough space for the single chair. If you plan on staying here with kids, consider a suite or villa if you want to be able to spread out even a little bit.
The bathroom was one of the tightest bathrooms we have ever experienced. We challenged the usability with two adults, so I imagine navigating the bathroom with children would be quite difficult. Double sinks is always preferred, but we understand having only a single sink given the space constraints.
Despite the small size, the bathroom was nicely appointed. Taller guests will appreciate the ceiling mounted shower head, which also added to the luxurious feel.
Coffee was complimentary and the minibar offered a nice variety of drinks, alcoholic beverages and snacks for a fee. However, there is a general store located off the lobby that sells drinks and snacks for a fraction of the price.
The rooms are tight at Santa Marina. However, there was sufficient closet space to unpack and store bags.
Buddha Bar beach is an Asian and Seafood restaurant and is one of the two main restaurants at Santa Marina accompanying Mykonos Social. The restaurant is situated beachside and has terrific views of Ornos Bay. Buddha Bar Beach is a popular spot in the area and will draw lots of guests not staying at the hotel. Be sure to make reservations well in advance.
The menu is large and has a lot to choose from. The food is excellent and service is on-point.
Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton has brought his first location to the mediterranean. Featuring sea views, a chill vibe, and excellent island inspired cuisine, Mykonos Social is a dining experience you won’t want to miss.
The super hero inspired cocktail menu with names including “Clash of the Titans”, “300 Spartans”, and “The Avengers”, is a must try. Or course, the food is excellent, as you would expect. Make reservations early because this restaurant is popular.
The Oasis pool lounge features loungers and sitting areas surrounding the Oasis Pool. You won’t have any need to leave your lounger because service at the pool is excellent. With a bar on-site and food provided via the Buddha Bar Beach lunch menu, you can relax and dine all afternoon.
The Beach Bar services beach-goers with cocktails and food delivered straight to your lounger in the sand. Service on the beach is excellent and like the Oasis Pool Lounge, the lunch menu is provided by Buddha Bar Beach.
Santa Marina is a full service hotel complete with a spa, fitness center, sports facilities such as tennis courts, a shopping boutique, and more. The hotel also has the ability to book more exotic activities on site as well such as boating and cruising experiences. The concierge can arrange all of this for you.
The hotel is located on the edge of Ornos Bay. The main beach is popular and is walkable, although the road is tight and packed with traffic. By car, the beach is only one minute away.
The charming Mykonos Town is a must visit. Filled with carless streets, shops, restaurants, and bars, the town is a hugely popular spot. Getting to Mykonos Town is a 15 minute drive from the hotel. However, traffic is absolutely nuts and parking is a nightmare, so I recommend arranging transportation to drop you off and pick you up. The concierge was most helpful in arranging this for us and everything went smoothly.
The front desk staff was friendly, professional, and able to tend to our every need. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were given a room upgrade courtesy of our Marriott status.
The concierge can arrange any type of activity you would expect. We found the concierge to be incredible helpful in booking transportation for us to visit Mykonos town.
Housekeeping did an excellent job. We found no cleaning deficiencies in our room. It was cleaning each day while we were out and turn-down service was prompt during dinner.
The staff all around the resort were very friendly and attentive. They generally seemed to enjoy working at the resort. We were properly attended to at both the pool and the beach. Restaurant staff were also on top of their game. We had a slight mixup with our spa booking, but the receptionist was able to rebook us quickly. Overall, the staff at this hotel are well trained, friendly and attentive to your needs.
Santa Marina is a terrific hotel in Mykonos and will suit both couples and families. The rooms are cramped, but the hotel makes up for it with a full slate of amenities including a spa, fitness center, sports courts, child play area, private beach, and more! Plus, there are numerous food options to choose from, which is nice to accommodate a longer stay. The best part of this hotel is the Ginkgo Spa. Be sure not to miss your opportunity to book one of their amazing treatments. Overall, you can’t go wrong with this hotel.
