Tucked between dramatic cliffs and the Pacific Ocean, the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal delivers a seamless blend of barefoot luxury and refined elegance. Just steps from Cabo San Lucas, transport yourself through its private mountain tunnel to a world of personalized service, jaw-dropping ocean views, and world-class amenities.
The resort is only a few minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of downtown Cabo San Lucas.
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is one of the best designed resorts we have visited. Being built into the side of a mountain instantly makes your eyes pop!
The resort features one of the most popular restaurants in Cabo, El Farallon. Perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean, this establishment is worthy of your instagram account.
The staff will make you feel right at home by catering to your every request.
The spa at Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal exudes luxury and will transport you to a world of peace.
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is extremely expensive with rooms regularly going for over $1,000 per night, making it one of the best use-cases for Hilton points. We highly recommend the Hilton Honors AMEX Surpass card to help build up your points stash.
The resort is very popular and often nears capacity during the peak season. Expect to see a mix of couples and kids.
Relaxation is what it is all about. Nava beach club does host a DJ in the afternoons for when you feel like leaving your villa and experiencing some action.
This resort is casual, but elegant at night. Upgrade to smart casual for dinner.
Mexico may use the Peso, but everything at the resort is priced in US Dollars. US Dollars are also acceptable for tips if you don't pickup some Pesos.
The resort is completely accessible (except the beach) to guests with disabilities. Elevators are present in the main building.

The resort has the best location in the entire area. The property has easy access to Cabo San Lucas and is less than 1,000 feet (300m) from downtown. It is an easy walk from the front gate that takes less than 5 minutes.
Once inside, you traverse the entry tunnel through the mountain to arrive at the beach front paradise. The mountain completely blocks the noise and hustle and bustle from the town to create a tranquil atmosphere.
Transportation is only needed from the airport. Once you arrive, everything in downtown Cabo San Lucas is easily walkable.
The hotel can arrange transportation if you wish to experience any activities beyond the town.
The resort is 29 miles (47km) from the San Jose Del Cabo (SJD) airport. The hotel has its own fleet of vehicles and transportation can be arranged by the concierge. The ride navigates some beautiful desert terrain and takes about 45 minutes.
Built into the side of a mountain, the resort is a feat of engineering. The seamless integration into the natural landscape, and exceptional landscaping, will drop your jaw from the moment you arrive. Inside, the decor will transport you to old-world Mexico with stunning tile work in the bathrooms, wood finishes, and soothing earth-tones. This is one of the best looking resorts we have ever seen.
The resort is part of the Pedregal development. Upon entering the development from Cabo San Lucas, the hotels main gate is the first stop. Staff are present at the gate 24/7 for security and privacy.
The outdoor lobby is truly a site to behold. Guests are instantly greeted with breathtaking views of the Pacific ocean as towering cliffs rise from behind. The lobby is flanked by the reception and concierge to the left and Agave Study at Peacock Alley to the right. We will explore Agave Study in more depth later in the review.
Steps from the lobby is the AlmArte boutique. The store features handmade offerings from artisans throughout Mexico. You can even pickup the blown glass hearts you will see throughout the property.
The adult pool is focal point of the resort. The pool is massive and features an impressive 175 foot (53m) infinity edge overlooking the pristine beach and Pacific Ocean.
Loungers are complimentary, but they can be taken fast, so be sure to claim your spot early.
The Rock / Kids pool can be found in the interior of the resort and is not next to the beach. This pool is calm and shallow and tends to get much less traffic than the other pools. The Rock pool is serviced by the Beach Club restaurant directly next to it.
The main family pool is on the opposite side of the resort to keep the noise down for the adults pool. However, the family pool still provides that epic experience with its own 130 foot (39m) infinity edge. This pool also has access to the Beach Club restaurant during the day.
The beach is gorgeous as it is nestled between the mountain and sparkling Pacific Ocean. The water is a beautiful rainbow of blue hues, but don’t get too excited because the water is not swimmable. The beach is very rocky and the surf is incredibly rough. Don’t go in deeper than your knees.
The spa at Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is located underneath the lobby. It seems small at first, but don’t be fooled. The complex is large, with a relaxation pool surrounded by treatment rooms. While pricey, the treatments are luxurious and we feel this is one of the best spas we have experienced.
The fitness center is located next to the lobby and features a small, boutique and a large variety of equipment. A wall of windows provides sweeping views of the resort and ocean during your workout.
The edge of the resort features one of the most stunning yoga pavilions you may ever see. The pavilion has sweeping views of the resort, ocean, and beach.
There is plenty of opportunity for social media content because every inch of this resort is absolutely stunning. Fountains, water and fire features, sculptures, art, and decadent landscaping can be found at every turn.
It only gets better at night. Immaculate landscape lighting illuminates all that the Pedregal has to offer. Fire features warm the cool, desert landscape and decorated trees bring the ambiance to life!
With only 112 rooms and suites, the resort has the ability to spread out and never feels overly crowded. The rooms are segmented into many buildings that are spread throughout the property.
For this stay, we booked the King Pacific Room with Plunge Pool on points and were upgraded to the ocean view room. At over $1,000 per night for the base room, this resort is one of the best values for Hilton points, which is why we recommend the Hilton Honors AMEX Surpass card, which has great earnings multipliers and categories, to help build your points stash.
The entry immediately greets us with the spacious bedroom. You will immediately notice the decor. This resort has an old-world Mexico feel to it. Earth tones, with stone, wood, and ceramic finishes really bring the theme to life.
You will also notice how big the room is. At 856 square feet (79 sqm) the room has plenty of space to move around and has a sitting area. The fireplace is a nice touch for those cool, desert evenings.
The space flows seamlessly right into the bathroom. There are giant double sliding doors if you wish to close it off. A tall rainfall shower, soaking tub with nice selection of bath salts, double vanity, and enclosed water closet complete the space.
The cushioned bench with pillows directly next to the shower is an interesting choice. It was hard to keep them from getting wet.
The minibar comes stocked with coffee, tea, water, and your favorite beverages.
Opposite the minibar is a closet with safe, iron, and ironing board. This closet was a bit tight, even for just two people, but it got the job done.
All rooms at this resort have plunge pool terraces. There are some villas on the property that have larger pools.
The terrace did a good job of protecting privacy and had killer views of the ocean that were perfect for spotting whales during the winter months.
One of the best amenities of this resort is complimentary chips, salsa, guacamole, and Corona delivered to your suite each afternoon between 4PM and 6PM. This really hit the spot a couple of hours before dinner!
Don Manuel’s serves as the primary restaurant for the resort. The venue has indoor and outdoor seating and overlooks the adult pool (children are welcome at the restaurant). Breakfast and dinner are served here.
The standard continental breakfast has a few offerings and is perfect for those who are not big eaters in the morning.
For those with a bigger appetite in the morning, upgrades to the buffet are available for a surcharge. The buffet has a wide selection of options with specials that rotate each day.
Featuring a traditional, yet evolved, Mexican dinner menu, Don Manuel’s offers and elegant dining experience.
El Farallon is the resorts signature restaurant and is very popular. It is available to the public in addition to guests, so be sure to make reservations well in advance.
El Farallon is a complete dining experience and begins with a visit to the champagne terrace while you wait for your table to be ready. This is mostly an upsell strategy, so don’t feel obligated.
Despite the upselling, the terrace overlooks the ocean and is an amazing way kickoff the evening with some cocktails.
The venue itself is incredible. Perched on the side of the cliff with the ocean waves crashing below, the ambiance is unmatched and perfect for romance. The menu rotates each evening. Prices are set on the main menu item and the sides are included in that price.
The food is absolutely incredible! You absolutely need to try this restaurant during your stay.
Crudo services the adult pool area for lunch. You can either dine in the small restaurant area or have the pool staff serve you at your lounger.
Crudo, meaning “raw,” serves fresh seafood, sandwiches, and has a large selection of tacos. This was some of the best food we have ever enjoyed by a pool!
The Beach Club services the Rock/Kids pool and family pool areas. The menu is a bit more kid friendly with sandwiches, pastas, and tacos on offer.
Get your day started with some fresh coffee from Neutral Coffee Lab located next to the lobby.
If you like tequila, Agave Study at Peacock Alley is for you. Offering an exceptional selection of tequilas and Mezcal, the focus is a celebration of Mexican culture. Local spirits are paired with local delicacies for a fully immersive experience.
The bar also offers an amazing selection of cocktails and an amazing ambiance in the evening. Sit next to the wall of fire before dinner and explore the amazing menu of locally inspired cocktails.
The hotel features all of the traditional amenities including fitness, yoga, spa, and more. And, with Cabo San Lucas on your doorstep, many activities including boating and watersports are available in the marina. The concierge can help make arrangements for you.
We chose to enjoy a sunset sailing up and down the coast, and of course, a visit to the famous arch. We highly recommend doing a sunset cruise to see the arch, but there are tons of activities that the concierge can arrange through numerous tour companies.
As mentioned, Cabo San Lucas is only a short walk away. Stroll through the marina or venture inland for a more authentic experience. From famous dining spots like the Hard Rock cafe and Cabo Wabo Cantina, to hole in the wall taco joints, Cabo San Lucas is a charming town with much to offer. The resorts location so close to these amenities is the cherry on top.
Transportation was arranged through the hotel and staff were easy to find right outside the airport. They were very friendly and quickly got us on our way.
We utilized the concierge to arrange transportation as well as a sunset cruise of the Cabo San Lucas coastline. The staff were incredibly friendly and all the arrangements were hassle free.
The staff kept the property immaculate and serviced our room twice daily. Everything was top notch.
In general, the hotel has incredible staff. Everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had the best stay possible. I enjoyed talking with some of the staff about the culture and our different backgrounds. They really make it personal and it shows!
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal has consistently been rated one of the best resorts in Mexico, not just Los Cabos. Our review agrees, with one of our highest scores.
The resort is a bit older than others in Los Cabos, which means it cannot compete with newer properties having larger pools for example. However, the property extremely well maintained. The dining score was reduced slightly because a third venue for dinner would be nice. Perhaps a more casual option that is more kid friendly (even though kids menus were available).
The major hit to the score is the value proposition. Cash rates at this property are sky high and probably not worth it. However, the ability to use Hilton points is a big score. Without the Hilton Honors program, the value score would be even lower as the room prices are just so high. However, everything else is competitively priced.
All in all, the resort is a sight to behold and the service, amenities, dining, and location are second to none!
